You don't have to have a website to own a domain name. If you register a domain name with New Email Address we will look after it in our 'free parking' area. If someone else tries to buy your domain name it will come up as unavailable, and if someone goes to your domain on the web, it will show up as being reserved. By registering a domain name you can be safe in the knowledge that you have the web address of your choice should you decide to put up a website at some point in the future; in the meantime, you can use your domain name for email, and reap the benefits.

Tips for securing the right email address

The longer you leave registering a domain, the more likely someone else will get there first! Many popular names have already gone and so you may need to be more creative in your choice; suggestions to get the email address that most accurately reflects you include:

  • Widening your choice of domain extension – newer extensions such as .biz, .info and .net tend to have greater availability of more desirable names
  • Try adding additional words to your ideal name – such as “my”, “online”, “live”, “thisis”

With people relying more and more on email for important communication, changing primary email addresses is not a trivial matter - just try and think back to all the people and websites you have given your email address to.
